What is the tour schedule?

We operate seasonally beginning in March through the end of December, Tuesday through Friday at 3pm and Saturdays at 12pm

Where does the tour start and end?

Our tour begins at the WindowsWear Museum inside of the lobby at Berkeley College: 12 East 41st Street, New York, NY 10017 located on 41st Street between Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue. Tour ends in the vicinity of Central Park South at Bergdorf Goodman: 754 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10019 located on the corner of 58 street and Fifth Avenue.

How do I get to the tour?

We are located adjacent to the New York Public Library at Bryant Park. Directions by Subway: B D F M trains to 42 Street/Bryant Park, or 4 5 6 7 trains to Grand Central Station, Directions by Bus: M1 M2 M3 M4 M5 M55 to 42 street/Fifth Avenue. Here is a map

How long is the tour?

Approximately 2 hours. During the holiday season the averages between 2 to 2 1/2 hours to accommodate more holiday windows and large crowds.

Is the tour wheelchair/stroller accessible?

Our tour primarily takes place street side on Fifth Avenue, there are no stairs involved however we do walk approximately 17-20 blocks, please use your best judgment with wheelchair/stroller accessibility. Do I have to make a reservation or can I just show up?

Reservations are required to guarantee spots on our tours. Reservations help us ensure that our groups remain manageable and enjoyable, and they allow us to notify you of changes to the tour due to weather or anything that could disturb the tour.

Is this tour included with the Explorer Pass, New York Pass, or Sightseeing Pass?

Yes, this tour is included with your Explorer Pass, New York Pass, or Sightseeing Pass. You’ll need to make a reservation with your credit card. No charges will apply IF you show up with a valid Explorer Pass, New York Pass, or Sightseeing Pass. All Explorer Pass, New York Pass, or Sightseeing Pass holders who make a reservation but do Not attend will be fully charged for the number of people in their reservation.This allows us to better manage our group size and make the tour experience better for you.

Can you accommodate large groups or private tours?

We do offer private tours! We offer tours and fashion travel packages of all kinds, email tours@windowswear.com for private tour inquiries.

What happens if I am late and miss the group?

It is important to arrive at the tour starting location at least 10 minutes prior to the start time, as we do start the tour promptly. It would be unfair for the others if we need to wait for those that are late. We also recommend checking with your hotel concierge or online how much time you need to make it to the tour and allow some extra buffer time. Your email reminder you receive the day before the tour will provide start location and map. We cannot guarantee you’ll be able to find your tour group if you are late. We do Not offer refunds for latecomers, we will do our best to reschedule you to another tour day.

What is your cancellation/rescheduling/no show/refund policy?

You can cancel a tour up to 24 hours prior to your tour date without penalty. Any time after this period a cancellation fee of $19.99 per person is charged. If you do Not show up to your tour you are charged full admission price per person. Tour spots are limited.

Does the tour happen during extreme weather conditions?

We cannot control the weather and the tour is subject to be canceled at the discretion of the tour guide for the safety of our guests during extreme weather conditions (snow, rain, extreme heat or cold). Please do check the weather report and be prepared for the weather. If there is a weather-related cancellation WindowsWear will email and/or call your provided reservation phone number and email to reschedule or refund. Please note NY Pass/Explorer Pass holders are not eligible for refunds.

What is the tipping or gratuities policy?

Tips are always appreciated by our guides. They should be given if you as an individual want to demonstrate your appreciation to the guide for that job well done. Industry standard in the service community which includes tour guides, waiters, bar-tenders is 20% of your admission price. Another great way to express gratitude is a positive review visit the WindowsWear’s TripAdvisor Page and make sure to mention your guide by name!

What language is the tour offered in?

Currently, our tour is offered in English, if the language is a barrier keep in mind it is a very visual tour.

Does the tour go inside stores?

This is primarily an outdoor tour that gives you a first-hand “inside” perspective of the fashion industry. You may go inside buildings such as Tiffany & Company or Saks Fifth Avenue, depending on availability. Remember these are retail stores and our tour operates during shopping hours so crowds can be quite large.

What sites and stores are visited on the tour?

While our route always remains the same, the magic of fashion is that it’s always changing and so are our storefronts. Some of our frequent stops include Saks Fifth Avenue, Rockefeller Center, The Cartier Mansion, Louis Vuitton, Coach House, Bergdorf Goodman, Tiffany & Company, among many others. Sites and store stops are always subject to availability.
